Karma On Wheels

Slow down and let other drivers merge and go ahead of you. Allow every pedestrian to amble

across the street, the slower the better. Is that extra five minutes of driving time going to ruin

your life? No, but being a patient, safe, and nice driver will make the ride all the more pleasant

and will send a ray of goodness in your wake.

Good Karma

Holding the elevator: a simple yet kind idea. If you are inside an elevator and see someone approaching as the doors close, hold the doors open to let them in. You might make a nice connection and the person will appreciate this gesture. Rack up those karma points.

Tithing

I witnessed my mother tithe at church when I was a child and noted she did so with pride. I was also not unaware that she “did without” and forewent buying herself new purses or clothes. She was able to take care of my sisters and me while regularly giving her little bit of extra pocket money to the church. I learned about self-sacrifice and also about living from your values from her selfless actions.
Experiment with tithing. There is a universal law of tenfold return. This means that when you give freely, your return is tenfold. Particularly in terms of money, many of us think the law of attraction doesn’t apply. It does. Money is simple energy, and when you allow the energy of abundance to flow through you, then money and other resources continue to flow to you. When you stop the flow of abundance out of fear, anxiety, and worry, the flow of money stops.
During the next six months, experiment. Whenever you get money, before you pay any bill, take ten percent and give it to something you believe in. What is most important is that you give with an open heart.

National Lemonade Day

Businesses are opening up again, even the ones in our own neighborhood. But instead of driving past yet another lemonade stand, help the kid by pulling over and buying a cup on a hot day. The kids will feel a sense of accomplishment as more people follow your example. Model good behavior whenever you can and it will return to you in spades.

Be a Good Samaritan

Did you know this is National Samaritan Involvement Day? Now you do, and I have no doubt you can immediately be helpful to someone, somewhere. Doing a favor someone without expecting something in return is the epitome of kindness and will earn you some karma points down the line (though you shouldn't do this with the expectation of any!) Sometimes helping others is the best way to help yourself. Anytime one of my friends is singing the blues, I will say, "Let's go serve some beans down at Glide Memorial! You'll stop feeling sorry for yourself in the first 60 seconds."
